The Candy Factory

Well we’re packed up and ready to leave in the morning. Between packing, though, we managed to get to the candy factory. I like to visit there when we come to Denver.

It’s the Hammond Candy Factory. They make all sorts of candies, but most famous are their Candy canes and lollipops.  You can find them just about anywhere around Christmas.  Next holiday season look at the box when you’re buying a candy cane.  I’ll bet it’s a Hammond.

So tomorrow it’s back in the car for the loooonnnggg drive home, I’ll check in once mo to let you know that we made it. Stupid car and all!

Ola Casa Bonita!

First, an update from yesterday. Amy and Kevin did make it to Cost Plus in the morning and to the 5280 Antique Toy Store in the afternoon. Wow! Lots and lots of toys for sale here. I’ve seen these stores on TV but never in real life.  If you have a collection and are looking for an item to complete it this is the place for you!

Today we went to Casa Bonita. It’s a Mexican restaurant but so much more. There are cliff divers diving off of a 30 foot cliff, a magic show, a puppet show and lots of other attractions and characters walking around. The place is owned by Trey Parker and Matt Stone , the creators of South Park. There was an episode of South Park titled “Casa Bonita” in which Cartman works his way into an invitation to the restaurant.

Just Chillin’

I am so sorry that I haven’t blogged for a couple of days, but we’ve just been relaxing.  On Monday we just all stayed in caught up on some TV. We watched South Park and The Golden Girls and some movies.

Yesterday Sean was under the influence with a stomach bug.  Hopefully none of the rest of us will get it. Amy, Kevin and I went to lunch with Martha, a friend of Amy. We ate at Poppies, a favorite location of Sean and Amy. It’s a nice restaurant with really good food.

Today we’re planning on going to an antique toy store and a  regular antique store. And maybe to Cost Plus to see what we can find there. I’ll let you know how we make out.

Garden of the Gods and One Little Goddess

Today we did a little visiting and sightseeing,

First, we drove down to Colorado Springs. The mountains are off to the west for the whole drive.

Pike’s Peak

When we got to Colorado Springs we drove through the Garden of the Gods. It was spectacular seeing all of the red sandstone rock formations.

AAfter the sightseeing we stopped and visited with Steve and Morgan Rudolph and  their little goddess, (my title, not theirs)
Nora.. We went to lunch with them at PizzAmore. Really good pizza and great company.

Miss Nora kept us all entertained. She just had a birthday three weeks ago and is now 2, or this many✌️!

With that little cutie I’ll leave you until tomorrow.

Furry Grands

I certainly didn’t do much today. I was so tired from the drive and I was feeling a little sorry for myself because there are fewer thu I can do for myself than a year and a half ago when I visited.  Like getting up from the chair.  I have a lift chair at home but here I’m dependent on someone to help me.  It’s awful to lose your independence, even a little.  I am so very grateful to everyone who helps me.

Today was spent relaxing with Sean and Amy and the grand doggies.  Allow me to introduce you to Oscar and Kirby. Oscar is a 6 year old Boxer and Kirby is a 5 year old Boston Terrier.

They are both energetic dogs but are well behaved.  They are very well loved.

These guys love dogs so much that they are making a wall of dogs. They got a painting kit of a balloon dog and liked it so much they  bought more. So far they have about 30 pictures and eventually hope to cover the whole wall.

Cute and clever!

Bye to My Little Sis

Today was our last day visiting with Carol and Dick. We had a wonderful visit. This morning we went to church with them and this afternoon we went to dinner at the club at Talking Rock Ranch.

Then it was time to say goodbye. We will definitely make an effort to visit again. Once we recover from this trip!

Tomorrow it’s heading back home by way of Denver and a short visit with Sean and Amy.

Bad Blogger!

Bad blogger, I am! Sorry for not posting yesterday. We were visiting with my sister Carol and her husband Dick and time got away from us.  By the time we returned to the hotel I was ready for bed. And this guy was at the door to greet us. He’s motion activated and speaks to you too. Not really creepy but kind of cute.

Today we spent the day with them again. We went to Cottonwood Az,
A town not too far away that has lots of neat little boutique shops and restaurants.

We had a nice lunch at The Tavern Grill.
It  was fun driving and seeing the different landscape.

My pictures don’t do it justice. Not only is it hard to capture from a moving vehicle, but there’s also the glare and dead bugs to shoot around.
Tomorrow we’ll be spending the day with Carol and Dick. Then it’s head for home on Monday.
